'Childhood' Lyrics
The most personal song Mike ever wrote. I don't know about you, but this song really relates to me.
Have you seen my Childhood?
I'm searching for the world that I come from
'Cause I've been looking around
In the lost and found of my heart...
No one understands me
They view it as such strange eccentricities...
'Cause I keep kidding around
Like a child, but pardon me...
People say I'm not okay
'Cause I love such elementary things...
It's been my fate to compensate,
for the Childhood
I've never known...
Have you seen my Childhood?
I'm searching for that wonder in my youth
Like pirates in adventurous dreams,
Of conquest and kings on the throne...
Before you judge me, try hard to love me,
Look within your heart then ask,
Have you seen my Childhood?
People say I'm strange that way
'Cause I love such elementary things,
It's been my fate to compensate,
for the Childhood I've never known...
Have you seen my Childhood?
I'm searching for that wonder in my youth
Like fantastical stories to share
The dreams I would dare, watch me fly...
Before you judge me, try hard to love me.
The painful youth I've had
Have you seen my Childhood...
Have you seen my Childhood?
I'm searching for the world that I come from
'Cause I've been looking around
In the lost and found of my heart...
No one understands me
They view it as such strange eccentricities...
'Cause I keep kidding around
Like a child, but pardon me...
People say I'm not okay
'Cause I love such elementary things...
It's been my fate to compensate,

This song could kind of relate to me too. But knowing what Michael meant by everything in this song, makes me feel bad for him. At least I had some years of a childhood. He really had no childhood at all.

I know...I had a childhood, unlike mike. But the verses like, "No one understands me..." I relate to really well

Yes, that definitely relates to me too. I did have a childhood but it was kind of difficult because I have always had a really hard time reading and concentrating, even more so when reading. I still have that problem, but it's not as bad. However, I still don't like to read because of it. It takes me so long to finish a book. I hate reading aloud in class because I reread the line a bunch of times because I always mess up and it doesn't make sense. Also, I had my childhood cut a bit short. I had to go from a pre-teen to an adult overnight. I didn't have a choice.

Usually your childhood ends in your teens. It really depends on the person though.

To me, this is one of the most important songs, Michael ever wrote or sang. He is speaking to us in the most hoenst way he can. The song, hurts me, to know the pain he was in. Yet, I feel so blessed, that Michael trusted us enough, to share these words with us. And, that he wanted the world to understand him. Anyone who really wants to just understand what Michael was all about, needs to listen to the words of this song. And, his voice in how he shares these thoughts with u.
This is an amazing song, and to me, Michael gave us his heart, when he wrote this. Yes, such a sad song, but so brave to share all that he did. Before this song, we had heard him say what his childhood was like. But, this song, tells, us how he felt.
Brilliant song.
